There are so many companies out
there that are providing acting or modeling audition or casting call information over the internet. The problem is
that most of them are providing information that is old, from unverified
sources, offered by companies that are trying to upsell you something that you
don't need, or are listings that offer no pay.
We want to teach you the best
way to accomplish your acting and modeling goals in show business so that you do not waste your
money or your valuable time. If you are new to acting or modeling, you should not be using these
services right now. The first thing you should do is determine if you and your
child has what it takes to get involved with the showbiz. We have
a free actors and models Hollywood Evaluation test that will help you answer those questions. If you find
that you and your child have what it takes to be in acting and modeling, next you need to learn about show
business and how it works. We teach you everything you need to know through the
information we provide in our Actors and Models Hollywood Resource Center.
With that said, we want to
provide you with some free information about Talent Auditions or Casting Calls and Casting
directors.
Casting Calls are
talent auditions for parts in a various show business productions. They are usually held by a Casting
Director and can be either Open for any actor or actress or by Invitation
Only.
A Casting Director
is the person hired by a producer or production company to find the acting talent for a
specific project.
Casting Directors can be
individuals, but many are in the form of companies. Casting directors usually
have both an education in acting and years of experience, however neither is a
requirement.
If it is in the producers
budget, Casting Directors will bring on with them Casting Assistants to help
them with the process of finding actors.
The process works like this:
The producer of a project, be it radio commercials, TV commercials, TV shows or major feature films, will hire a casting director to help them fill roles for the project. This casting director will be given a list of roles needed to fill, and then will go about searching for actors and other talent to bring in to an audition. The easiest way to do that is by going through the talent lists the child talent agents keep on file. The casting directors will
brainstorm and think of actors they have seen in plays, in TV commercials and in acting classes, etc.--
Many will consider unrepresented acting or modeling talent that they happen to know.
But it is faster, easier and more convenient to go through the legitimate talent agents for babies or children they need. If the casting director selects you for the audition, the agent will give you a call and notify you of the time and location. They will also almost always provide you with a copy of the audition script beforehand. You will then audition for the casting director and maybe even the TV or film producer or director. Following that, the producer will make his or her decision on which actors will appear in the project; some of those decisions are based on the casting director's recommendations. If you are chosen, your agent will contact you with the necessary details. They will also bill the producer for your
acting work.
If your child does not have a talent agent and you
want them to go to the next level in their acting career, they need talent representation.
Most actors never hear about the majority of talent auditions that happen every week. These auditions are not listed on the acting or modeling message boards, newsgroups,
audition services or email newsletters, and they are almost always for paid work.
These auditions are the ones you want because they are for television commercials, training videos, radio commercials,
cable television shows and yes, even feature films.
